Learn about the plan to revitalize the old TexPop gallery into an accessible, inclusive and lively community space.
Originally established in 2012 by Austin/San Antonio music journalist and creative muse Margaret Moser, TexPop was created to preserve and document San Antonio and South Texas music, art and pop culture.
The next iteration of this space will support artists and musicians, while also providing a “third-space” for neighbors and community groups to gather.
While we’re busy rejuvenating the space, we’d love to get your support and input in building its future.
Third spaces are informal public gathering spots beyond home (first place) and work (second place).
Re-activation checklist
Ceiling tiles, broken plumbing, and rotted plywood are just a few of the items needing attention on our long list of things “to-do-first”. Oh, and mow the dang backyard!
Gloves, goggles and bleach products. Rid the place of any cobwebs from it's time vacant, and make sure the floors & bathrooms shine better than Buc-cee's.
Sort & inventory the archive of amazing Texas music history sitting in flat files. Review what can be sold to raise funds for the space.
Setup a multi-functional space that can be used by and for the community.
While we wait for a lively events calendar to take the place of this list, here’s a few of the ideas we’ve been discussing with neighbors, artists, musicians, and groups:
We would love to know what ideas you have for the space. Please reach out to us if you’d like to help with the re-activation, or if you want to:
We truly welcome all ideas & feedback.
